Nestling in the Crevillente mountains in
the region of Valencia, this beautifully authentic cave house retains the
charm of Spanish rural life whilst providing comfortably modern facilities.
Just 30 minutes drive from Alicante airport, the house is in an area of
stunning mountain scenery, and is set amongst olive and almond groves and vineyards.
The house is believed to be about 400 years old and retains many of its original features. The
internal temperature remains constant so it is cool in the summer and warm
in the winter. The furnishings have been carefully selected to retain the
character yet provide modern and comfortable facilities.
There are 4 bedrooms, two doubles and two
singles, sleeping a maximum of 6 people. The well equipped kitchen has a gas
cooker, microwave and fridge / freezer and a washing machine is in the
separate utility room. The lounge / dining room has seating and dining for 6
people and includes a television with DVD player and satellite television
providing UK channels. Games provided include chess, darts, petanque and
numerous board games.
Outside there is a separate bar area and
extensive gardens containing a wide selection of cacti, trees and shrubs.
The large 10 x 5 metre swimming pool with terraces and sun-beds is fully
enclosed at the rear of the house with gated access and is for the exclusive
use of the guests and the owners. There is also a gas BBQ, and there is
ample parking facilities.
The owners can arrange a paella or BBQ night if requested. Please enquire for prices.
The Crevillente mountains are some 837
metres high and there are several walks mapped out, graded from easy to
hard. With good access by road to most areas, road cycling and motorbike
touring are favourite local pastimes. Other local facilities include trout
fishing, quad biking, horse-riding and a mineral spa 30 minutes by car.
The beaches and Alicante airport are within
30 minutes by car, and Murcia airport is just 45 minutes. A small
supermarket, two bars and a restaurant are a 15 minute walk in the local
town of La Canalosa. Hondon de la Nieves and Hondon de los Frailles are both
about 10 minutes by car where there are restaurants, cafes, bars,
supermarkets, butchers, markets, bodegas and banks etc. Aspe and Elche are
within 15 minutes by car, with their extensive facilities including ten-pin
bowling, shopping centres and cinemas.
