The
La Hermita apartment is a quaint and spacious two bedroom traditional
cottage arranged on one floor, and is situated on the southern edge of the
mountain village of Bubion in the province of Granada.
The living area is a large, open plan room with a lounge, diner and kitchen
set out in two distinct areas. French doors lead out to the terrace. The
property has central heating throughout and a chimenea for a cosy fire on winter nights.
The apartment has two bedrooms, the main bedroom has a double bed and the
second has twin beds, both with ample closet space. A sofa bed in the lounge
provide additional sleeping for two people when required. The kitchen is
well equipped with a gas stove, microwave oven, large fridge freezer and a
washing machine.
For cooling off on those hot summer days,
there is a beautiful shared swimming pool. The property is reached via a
short flight of steps and there is parking nearby. The bus stop, local small
supermarket and bars serving traditional tapas and delicious local cuisine
are all within a short walk.
Bubion is in the La Alpujarra region of
Granada is unique, about twenty miles from the Costa del Sol. The climate is
warm and sunny with crystal-clear, blue skies throughout most of the year.
The mountain air here is the cleanest in Europe and because of the altitude,
the heat in mid-summer is not overbearing.
The area has a stunning natural beauty,
dominated by the magnificent rugged peaks of Spain's highest mountain range,
the Sierra Nevada. The foothills of these southern slopes are cut by deep,
fertile valleys, rich with groves of almond, olive, oranges and lemons, with
cherry orchards and terraced pastures. In every direction there are
panoramic views, from the spectacular snow-capped peaks of Veleta and
Mulhacen, to the coastal hills. And at sunset, the Moroccon Rif Mountains
can sometimes be clearly seen over 120 miles away across the Mediterranean.
The region has the largest number of unique
botanical species in Europe, and herds of mountain goats, wild boar, eagles,
goshawks and partridge inhabit the sierra. The area has been declared a
Natural Park by the Government of Andalucia and UNESCO has granted it
Biosphere Reserve status.
The historic city of Granada with its
magnificent Arab palace and gardens, La Alhambra, is just an hour away by
car. And there is excellent skiing on the Sierra Nevada slopes, the venue of
the 1996 World Alpine Ski Championships. So you can ski in the morning,
sunbathe on the beach in the afternoon and still have time to enjoy dinner
and a drink in a local restaurant.
