Villamartin, Costa Blanca, Spain

Situated on the southern Costa Blanca, some forty minutes south of the cosmopolitan coastal resort town of Alicante and twenty minutes from the historic inland city of Murcia, this villa on the Sol Golf II complex is just five minutes from the beach at La Zenia, Orihuela Costa.

The villa is newly completed and has been furnished to a high standard. It sleeps 6 people having 1 double bedroom and 2 twin rooms over 2 floors with 2 bathrooms. There is a lounge dining area and lots of space on our south facing terraces for alfresco eating! The villa is air conditioned / heated throughout.

This quality coastline, with its many blue flag beaches, rolling sand dunes, picturesque walks and challenging golf courses, and within easy reach of two international airports makes it an ideal destination for a short break, winter or summer holiday whether for sport or total relaxation!

Golf sol II is a peaceful and secure community recently completed. It is within easy reach of local amenities such as restaurants, supermarkets and shops. To get the most from your visit we would recommend car hire however, the local bus service will take you too many local towns.

The area also boasts a large variety of restaurants and evening entertainment.

A short drive away you can take full advantage of a wide range of amenities including swimming, cycling, walking, bird watching, horse riding, go-karting, fishing, Aqua park, scuba diving, water skiing, climbing, windsurfing, canoeing, tennis and quad biking.

The climate is typically Mediterranean and extremely mild. Indeed, the almond and orange trees are already in blossom while much of northern Europe is still in gloom. The warm to hot sun lasts for almost three quarters of the year, at least along the coastal zone. It gets cooler from December to February. August is the hottest month, with temperatures averaging just under 30c (86 F). Rainfall is low (about16 inches a year) with most falling in late autumn and early spring.

Beaches

There is a large variety of beaches to choose from, whether it’s a large sandy stretch with sun-loungers and beach bars or a quiet secluded cove you’re looking for you won’t be disappointed. Most of these are safe blue flag beaches with a life guard in attendance during the summer season.

Eating Out

Whether it is a light snack or delicious meal this area can fulfil your need.

Los Dolces is a very British area where you will find a large variety of restaurants, ranging from an Irish bar to an English fish and chip shop. One of our favourite places here for a light lunch or breakfast is the Castaway which can be found on the second level. Mr B’s is also great for an English breakfast, this is also on the 2nd floor. There are two Indian restaurants which also have a takeaway service.

Villamartin Plaza is without a doubt one of our favourite places to eat although it is not very Spanish there is a great atmosphere in the evenings with lots of international visitors. The plaza is a large square surrounded on two levels with a huge variety of restaurants for all tastes and budgets. For a special night out visit Eduardo’s, the food is excellent international in style and has lots of familiar dishes. The decoration is elegant and hosts inside and outside dinning. It often has evening musical entertainment and can get very busy, it is advisable to book in advance. Che and Che American are also fantastic restaurants that serve high quality food. Che’s is an Argentinean restaurant which serves a variety of international dishes, but the steak’s here are well worth trying. There is evening musical entertainment through the summer and you would be advised to book a table in advance.

If you prefer to try some traditional Spanish food. The villages of San Pedro and san Miguel host a small amount of bars and restaurants they often don’t look much from the outside but these are the best places to sample Tap’s. One Place to in San Miguel is Las Cuevas meaning ‘The Caves’ The ambience in this restaurant is fantastic – the interior consists of many individually furnished original “cave” rooms, each containing one or two tables. If you are a group six to eight people, you may be lucky enough to get a room to yourself! The food is very traditional and it will be a good opportunity to try out your Spanish as this is a very Spanish restaurant, (you may want to take a phrase book with you).
