Cumbre Del Sol, the "Mountain of Sun", is perfectly situated for access to the best resorts on the Costa Blanca, being just 3 kilometres from the "jewels" of Moraira and Javea and a short drive from the cosmopolitan towns of Calpe and Denia. The sea and panoramic views from Cumbre Del Sol are breathtaking and on most days you can see the Balearic Islands across the water. Cumbre Del Sol Beach, a 1.5 kilometre drive down a picturesque craggy road, is a lovely sandy beach complete with bar and glorious views. The area has the best climate of Continental Europe, is rated by the World Health Organisation as one of the healthiest in the world and is ideal for all year visiting. Restaurants and bars are within walking distance and tennis, golf, horse riding, and all water sports are within 3 kilometres.
The adjoining village of Benitachell, only 5 minutes away, is a quaint Spanish village with an imposing central church and is renowned for all the many fiestas held throughout the year.
Nearby towns of Moraira and Javea
Moraira, which is only 5km away, is ideally situated between a coast with both sandy beaches and rocky coves, and the mountains of the Marina Alta. Moraira is part of the municipality of Teulada, situated about four miles inland. In earlier times the centres of population were situated away from the coasts to offer some protection from marauding pirates and invaders - Romans, Moors, Berbers etc. Moraira developed as the fishing port for Teulada, and both the lookout tower (Torre-vigia) on Cap d'Or overlooking Moraira's El Portet beach, and the Castle are reminders of the past.
In more recent times this quiet and peaceful fishing port has become a busy yet pleasant resort, which can perhaps best be summarised by what it doesn't have. There are no high-rises, no large hotels, no package tours, and no large and noisy nightclubs. It is simply a small yet busy town with many shops, restaurants and bars, surrounded by whitewashed villas nestling on the tree-covered hillsides. It has a large and multi-national resident population, and therefore remains lively throughout the year.
Its popularity can be judged by the very large number of visitors who return year after year. Moraira has four beaches, each very different in character from the others. The beach of El Portet is the northernmost of these, being situated at the end of a sheltered shell-shaped bay, quiet with clear water and a gently sloping seabed, being ideal and safe for swimming. The town beach, or L'Ampolla, is a large sandy beach with a play area and restaurants. Platgetes is quieter and partly sand/partly rock; and L'Andrago is a boulder beach, ideal for snorkelling. Both to the north and south of Moraira there are many secluded bays and coves well worth exploring.
Javea, which is only 7km away, is a town of great beauty, magical landscapes, a haven of peace and serenity. It is situated between the San Antonio and La Nao capes, enjoying the impressive and magnificent protection of Mount Montgó. Javea itself is a small, historic town, free of high rise buildings offering a relaxing holiday and contact with a friendly and forthcoming local population. Javea old town is steeped in history, with tosca stone porticoes, gothic bay windows, wrought iron window bars and balcony railings. The church of San Bartolemé in the town centre is an example of late gothic with a defensive character. The Arenal area is the commercial and tourist part of Javea .The beautiful, sandy bay is planted with palm trees and has play areas for children. The bay is fringed by the promenade with its wonderful choice of bars and restaurants offering national and international specialities. Interesting shops and boutiques abound.
In Cumbre Del Sol there is a horse riding centre and tennis courts. Just 2.5 kms down the road to Javea is the 9 hole Javea golf course, a very lush and pleasant course. Golfers wanting a stiffer challenge need to go to the Olazabal designed 18 hole course at La Sella (12 km away) and the Ballesteros designed 18 hole course at Oliva Nova. At the La Sella course there is also a large tennis complex and health club/spa/casino facilities at the 5 star Marriott
