Visiting Crevillente is like stepping into the Middle East. Crevillente is a small town on the river Segura, set at the foot of a mountain range of the same name and walled in by the Hondones and the Vinalopo valley. The hand-woven carpets fro Crevillente are world-famous for their quality and original designs that stem from the Orient. And Crevillente's Islamic architecture is interwoven with cave houses carved into the mountainside, one of the few areas on the Costa Blanca where you can still find these unusual properties.

Crevillente also has some of the most beautiful views and spectacular natural countryside in the Alicante province, with the Montaña de San Cayetano and El Hondo nature reserves right on the doorstep. Crevillente’s landscape is varied and colourful, criss-crossed with small ravines, rocky and mountainous to the north with flat, arid plains to the south.

Amongst these dramatic and beautiful surroundings are the San Cayetano mountains to the north-east of the region, which rises to over 800 metres above sea-level. From its imposing summit there is a breathtakingly spectacular panoramic view of the El Hondo lagoon, the river Segura and nearly the whole of the Vega Baja.

The region is a walker's paradise and is rich in flora and fauna. The dried-up river beds create ideal conditions for a wealth of typically-Mediterranean plant-life, and walkers will come across pine forests, palm trees, buckthorn, Kermes oak and pistachio trees. Rambling is also popular here since there are no steep slopes, loose rocks or precarious mountain passes. This area is the perfect environment  to enjoy silence and unrivalled views.
