The huge resort of Fuengirola extends for around 10km along the coast with many hotels and apartments, some of them high rise. Whilst catering for all age groups Fuengirola is tends to bemore popular with families and older couples than with the younger people.

Fuengirola's beaches are impressive and spread the entire length of the resort, apart from the central marina area, where you can enjoy a range of watersports. But despite the holiday atmosphere of Fuengirola, you can still see fishermen leave in their small trawlers every morning.

Strolling along the long promenade along the coast is very popular, stopping at the many bars and cafes. The climb to the remains of the Moorish castle of Sohail on the western edge of the resort is worth the effort. The weekly market is every Tuesday, and is the the Costa del Sol's most popular market destination.

Sporting enthusiasts are well served here, including windsurfing and scuba diving. For families with children, there is a zoo and a water park. Fuengirola is especially popular with golfers since it is perfectly placed for access to a wide range of courses on what has become known as Spain's Costa del Golf. And by night there's no shortage of bars and restaurants to suit every taste and pocket.
